Kumu Art Museum

Kumu is a new type of modern multifunctional art building that contains exhibition halls, a lecture hall offering diverse facilities, and an educational centre for young visitors and for art lovers. Kumu Art Museum contains classics of Estonian Art from the 18th century until the end of the second World War, Estonian Art during the Soviet era and also exhibitions of Contemporary Art.

The new museum plot is located on the territory of four hectares in Tallinn, on the limestone bank of Lasnamägi next to the Kadriorg Park. The office of the President of the Republic of Estonia and the Kadriorg Palace that belongs to the Art Museum lie in the nearest vicinity of the future Art Museum.

Kumu is meant for different people – for those who are already well-versed in art and for those who simply wish to spend their time in a congenial environment. Kumu welcomes children and families, and most importantly – Kumu is like a laboratory where diverse ideas emerge and develop. These examine contemporary visual culture and its functioning in society.
